The start date for winter Love Island has been officially confirmed.

ITV2 announced the news on Twitter on Thursday morning.

“January, don’t be such a melt,” they said. “It’s time to thaw out those inflatable, Love Island is BACK.”

They added that Love Island would be returning on Sunday, January 12.

The winter series of Love Island is set to be taking place in a brand new villa in Cape Town, South Africa.

It’s rumoured to be six weeks long, which would make it a bit shorter than its summer counterpart.

Laura Whitmore is rumoured to be hosting the winter series of Love Island after Caroline Flack announced she was “stepping aside” after she was charged with assault.

The Sun report that Laura has already spoken to Love Island bosses about possibly taking on the role.

“It’s an amazing job, every TV presenter in Britain wants it, so of course Laura was open to speaking to bosses about it,” an insider told the publication.

“She’s already had a chat about it – as soon as Caroline quit, they needed to sign someone up ASAP. Laura already knows the production crew from when she goes out to visit Iain on location, and bosses from her previous jobs on ITV.”
