Six Celebrities We Think Should Host Academy Awards 2014

MacFarlane apparently won’t be back for the 2014 ceremony, so here are six options for another host. Take note, Academy!

Sue Murphy

Rumour has it that MacFarlane will not be the host for the 2014 ceremony, so we have kindly put together a list for the Academy of our choices for a new presenter. Some are perhaps more realistic than others…

1. Oprah

Not only should Oprah be the host, she should just give out every Oscar too. She’ll also turn up with a couch and will provide a separate seating area to jump on for when you are uber- excited about your win. However, her fee might force the Academy to host the awards ceremony in a shed. Goat optional.

2. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

We have listed them as one because as far as we’re concerned, we can no longer associate one without the other in terms of award ceremonies. The pair perfectly pulled off the Globes hosting, the Oscars are really the last ceremony left for them to conquer.

3. Robert Downey Jr.

Stay up all night with Robert Downey Jr.? Where do we sign up? This should be his entrance…

4. Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen, second in line to the Oprah throne, actually hosted the Oscars in 2007. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Ask her to come back!

5. Jimmy Kimmel

Well, don’t we all want someone to slag Matt Damon from the Academy Award stage? We think Damon would take it well. Kimmel hosted the American Music Awards in 2008 so he has the experience too.

6. Betty White

The last of the Golden Girls, White is witty, sassy and incredibly funny. It also helps that Hollywood bloody loves her. White currently hosts the practical-joke show Betty White’s Off Their Rockers so we think she might have more than enough practice.

Chances are it will probably be Ricky Gervais…
