Hansel and Gretel is the latest in a line of fairytales that have been revamped for the big screen, but forget the terrible twosome, Red Riding Hood and the many Snow White interpretations. Here are five magical tales we think should get a reworking…
1. The Little Mermaid
This well known fairytale written by Hans Christian Anderson has already made it to the big screen with a hugely successful adaptation with Disney. On the other hand, maybe there’s more to Ariel than meets the eye? In the original fairytale, the Prince actually marries a Princess from a nearby kingdom and the mermaid dies from heartbreak. In our proposed remake, the Little Mermaid would return for vengeance on the Prince and attempt to get her life back under the sea. Tarantino would direct and Emma Stone would star. Hollywood gold.
