“Scream” Pilot Has Been Greenlit By MTV

The horror series is being adapted for the small screen by MTV

Sue Murphy

Scream, the horror film which was the huge game changer back in the early 90’s, has been greenlit for the small screen by MTV.

The film, directed by Wes Craven, is a cult classic, which has become an iconic movie in terms of horror. The mask, the stars, that telephone conversation, are now all instantingly recognisable as film references.

The pilot will be an hour adaptation of the film franchise and the production companies are aiming to have Summer 2014 release date.

MTV and Dimension Films, who have worked on the original Scream franchise, are in talks to develop the project with various writers. Former director of Scream, Wes Craven is apparently in discussions to adapt the hour long pilot.

Even though the idea seems solid, Scream has certainly been done to death (no pun intended) over the years and it would be hard to figure out what more a small screen adaptation could add.

On the other hand, any excuse to watch this scene again…
