Eastenders viewers tonight said goodbye to an Albert Square legend with the death of Barbara Windsor’s inimitable Peggy Mitchell choosing to end her life in the emotional episode.
Audiences saw Peggy, battling a terminal illness say goodbye to her sons Phil and Grant and other Albert Square pals before she decided to take her own life rather than suffer through her last days.
An old friend even made an appearance from beyond the grave, with the spirit of Pat Butcher appearing. Butcher had originally passed away in 2012 of cancer.
Naturally, social media savvy soap fans tearily reacted to the episode making it the number one trending topic of Twitter, proving just how well-loved Peggy Mitchell really was.
