It’s been revealed today that Dan Kennedy, one of the team leaders, has withdrawn from Operation Transformation.
Last week on the show, Dan was admitted to hospital following stomach cramps and passing blood. He was immediately taken off the show’s food and fitness plan and underwent tests at St Michael’s Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.
He was later diagnosed with severe colitis, a condition which pre-existed his commencement of the Operation Transformation plan.
Subsequently, he was admitted to hospital where he has been for the last week.
Dan had hoped to continue with the show after he had rested and recuperated but that hasn’t been the case. His doctor told him this weekend that he would not be medically fit to continue on the Operation Transformation plan.
As a result, Dan has had to quit the show due to his illness.
Kathryn Thomas, the host of the show said: “We are all so disappointed for Dan that he is no longer medically fit to continue as a leader. He approached the Operation Transformation plan with huge enthusiasm, determination and great humour.
“The most important thing for Dan right now is to focus his attentions on getting well again and we all wish him a very speedy recovery”.
Operation Transformation returns to RTÉ One at 8.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday.
