Netflix’s The Perfection is making viewers sick over THAT graphic scene

Jade Hayden

Jesus Christ.

Seen The Perfection yet?

It’s Netflix’s latest try at millennial horror that combines classical music and pure chaos to create a film that could have been amazing but ended up being a bit, meh.

Starring Allison Williams as a troubled music prodigy, the movie takes us on a journey of love, betrayal, and gruesome acts of defiance that left this viewer feeling excessively confused rather than pleasantly spooked.

It’s grand like, it’s just not great.

Despite this, The Perfection has been the talk of the Netflix town this past week as audiences muster up the courage to sit and watch one hour 30 minutes of absolutely bizarre, gore-filled content.

If you’ve seen the film, you’ll know what the above refers to. And if you haven’t, then please stop reading now.

About half an hour into the movie, Williams’ character Charlotte decides that she wants herself and new flame Elizabeth to take a road trip.

While on the road, Charlotte unknowingly slips Elizabeth some hallucinogenic drugs causing her to think that she’s got bugs crawling around inside of her skin.

The pair are abandoned on the side of the road when Elizabeth starts to see insects crawling from beneath the skin in her arm, leaving them stranded desperately seeking help.

Charlotte conveniently pulls a meat clever from her backpack and tells Elizabeth: “You know what you have to do.” The poor drugged woman then proceeds to hack off her hand, much to Charlotte’s delight.

Her betrayal, as it is first portrayed, ends up being something else entirely as it transpires that Charlotte wasn’t jealous of Elizabeth at all, but wanted to help her get free from her abusing mentor.

By chopping off her own hand.

It doesn’t really make sense but hey, neither do lots of things in this movie so let’s just go with it, alright?

Regardless, the scene itself essentially comes out of nowhere and is enough to make even the most seasoned gore-fans a little uneasy.

Some people have even gone so far as to say that watching the movie made them sick. Shame.

Others, however, think they have uncovered the true reasoning behind audience’s aversion.

Fair.
