There are so many movies set for release in 2016, that it was nearly impossible to pick out the ones we’re most looking forward to.
Some stood out though, like the Harry Potter prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which is out in November (18th).
Harry Potter fans will be delighted with this one. Starring Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton and our very own Colin Farrell.
Set in the 1920s, long before Harry went to Hogwarts, Newt Scamander (Redmayne), has arrived in America to find and document magical creatures.
While in New York, however, Newt loses some of the creatures he’s been carrying around in a suitcase. If they’re not found, it could have serious consequences for the magical and human worlds.
Also Zoolander 2 (February 12th), which is another highly anticipated movie for next year. Ben Stiller is back as Derek Zoolander in the sequel to the 2001 movie.
Bringing us back our childhood will be The BFG, which is out July 1st. If you loved the book or the cartoon as a kid, then this movie is right up your alley.
With Spielberg directing, it tells the imaginative story of a young girl and a Giant who introduces her to the wonders of Giant Country.
A personal favourite of mine is Room. I went along to a preview screening of the movie and it was absolutely incredible.
Based on the book by Emma Donoghue, it revolves around five-year-old Jack and his mother who live in a single room, with no access to the outside world. They plan an escape from the enclosed surroundings where Jack might finally get to see the real world.
It’s up for three Golden Globe Awards and is tipped for an Oscar nomination.
Bridget Jones’ Baby (September 16th) will see Renee Zellweger reprise her role as Bridget, over 10 years after we saw her in Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason.
Colin Firth is also back as Mark Darcy, but unfortunately, the two have had a bumpy relationship. Last time we saw them they were happily engaged, but since then they’ve had an on-and-off relationship. The latest movie brings Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) into the mix as Bridget’s new beau, Jack. The whole story will centre on Bridget’s pregnancy and not knowing which of her two fellas is the father.
Finding Dory, with a June 17th release date, will be the number 1 animation on our list for next year.
Also on our list, is the new female-led Ghostbusters movie which comes out July 15th and Will Smith and Margo Robbie’s new movie Suicide Squad, which comes out at the start of August.
The movie everyone is hoping will finally get Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar is The Revenant, which comes out in a few weeks in early January, is also one to look out for at your local cinema.
