Of course they did.
It was announced on Tuesday that Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins will not be returning for the next season of the Great British Bake Off. This was following the news that the popular show would be moving from BBC to Channel 4 next year.
The comedic presenters have fronted the show since it began on BBC Two in 2010, alongside judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.
The duo released a public letter of resignation from the show, in which they included some innuendo, leaving the show in true Mel and Sue style.
The letter which states why they are leaving, is in full below, see if you can spot the insinuations:
“We were very shocked and saddened to learn yesterday evening that Bake Off will be moving from its home.
We made no secret of our desire for the show to remain where it was.
The BBC nurtured the show from its infancy and helped give it its distinctive warmth and charm, growing it from an audience of two million to nearly 15 [million] at its peak.
We’ve had the most amazing time on Bake Off, and have loved seeing it rise and rise like a pair of yeasted Latvian baps.
We’re not going with the dough. We wish all the future bakers every success.”
‘Rise and rise’
‘yeasted Latvian baps’
‘not going with the dough’
Even in a dignified letter of resignation, which has gained them a lot of respect, and upset a lot of fans, the two have managed to be funny.
We’ll miss you ladies.
Here are some of the best innuendo from this season.
