Love Island’s Hugo says Liberty pulled *him* for a chat in unaired scenes

Excuse me, sir?

Hugo Hammond: PE teacher, international man of mystery, Love Island contestant.

The man who everyone was rooting for but couldn’t quite bag himself a connection, Hugo was rather liked during his time in the villa, even if he did fully lean into the fact he was on a free six week long lads holiday.

But no matter, Hugo did his best with the graft and that’s all we can ask of him. Or rather, he did as well as the producers are willing to show us, because apparently Hugo and Liberty had a bit of a flirt in the early day of this year’s series – and we never got to see it.

Speaking to Closer magazine, Hugo said that Liberty pulled him for a chat to keep her options open when Jake, her now boyfriend, was chatting to Millie.

“When I got back I spoke to my family and I said, ‘Oh did you see that Lib pulled me for a chat when Jake had a chat with Mills?’ and I don’t think it was shown, but me and Lib had a chat,” he said.

Lucinda, who was also there for the interview said: “Oh! Was that not shown?”Hugo then responded: “I don’t think so!”

“That’s goss, tea central,” Lucinda said. “She was exploring her options, wasn’t she?” Hugo replied: “Yeah I think so.” Goss, indeed.

Regardless, Hugo’s chat with Liberty clearly didn’t lead any heads to be turned as she and Jake have remained coupled up for the duration of the series.

The pair were voted among the least compatible this week by their fellow islanders, jeopardising their place in the villa. Tonight, they will both say they don’t mind being voted as such because of the rocky week they had, whereas Faye and Teddy will express anger that they were also voted among the group.

Unsurprisingly, it’s all going to kick off tonight. Great.
