Hugo upsets Love Island girls with “fake” comment

What did Hugo say?

Jade Hayden

Well, that’s that revealed.

Last night’s preview for Love Island had viewers wondering just what in the name of God Hugo had said to upset so many people.

The only guy not in a romantic couple, the PE teacher had previously been praised for being the only guy (honestly) who wasn’t banging on about his head being turned.

And then the episode teaser happened, which saw Hugo and Sharon both upset over something Hugo had said, the latter breaking down in tears over the argument they had had.

For the day, Love Island fans have been busy trying to figure out exactly what was said to rub everybody up the wrong way. And as it turns out, it wasn’t any of their predictions. It was something new entirely.

During a game to get to know each other better, the couples have to match answers to questions around the islanders’ types.

Revealing his biggest turn-off, Hugo says: “Fake, yeah. Personality and looks.” Hugo then goes on to reveal his ‘perfect type’ – “Leggy blonde. Not fake.”

Some of the girls are not too delighted by Hugo’s admission, questioning why he consistently uses the word “fake” in his answers.

Faye says: “That word keeps getting thrown around, doesn’t it?” Hugo responds: “I didn’t mean anything malicious did I?”

Sharon says: “I think I was just annoyed as a mate, I respect him enough to say to him, what you’re saying is upsetting me.”

Hugo replies, clearly getting upset himself: “I just didn’t mean to upset anyone, that’s the last thing I wanted.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on Virgin Media One.
