Jennifer Aniston explains why Friends would never work if it were made today

No chance of a reunion then.

No chance of a reunion then.

It finished over 12 years ago and yet we still can’t seem to get over it. Friends was the first brilliant show of it’s kind and there will never be one like it again.

This may be why we can’t accept the fact that a reunion is probably never going to happen.

Co-Creator Marta Kaufman recently spoke about it at a Film Festival and added that she really didn’t want the gang to get back together for a revival.

“They’d all be older, and it wouldn’t be the same, and people will only end up feeling disappointed, and then I’ll be embarrassed, and it would be terrible.” she said at the time.

Now Jennifer Aniston has added her thoughts on a reunion, and it’s not looking good.

Her reasoning behind it though, was entirely different, and focuses on the fact that social interaction is not what it use to be in the Friends days.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show, Jennifer explained that social media addiction essentially ruined the chances of a reunion.

“I don’t know what we would do,” she said.

“I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic … There was something about a time where our faces weren’t shoved into cellphones. We weren’t checking Facebooks and Instagrams. We were in a room together, or in a coffee shop together, and we were talking, having conversations. We’ve lost that.”

Quite a sad thought really. But she has a point. Put down your phones if you wan’t to live like the gang in Friends.

You can listen to her interview here, the reunion is discussed around the 3.20 mark.
