Irish favourite and former Big Brother star Brian Dowling is said to be in the running for a role on the upcoming season of The X Factor.
According to The Sun, he has been interviewed and screen tested by show bosses to take over The Xtra Factor.
Reports have stated that he is up against some stiff competition though.
“The folk at ITV are big fans of Brian,” a source told the paper.
“His test went very well and he did a very entertaining interview with former X Factor act, 2Shoes.
“It’s vital to them that the show is in safe hands, so having pros like Brian and Sam and Mark on the board is appealing.”
“But they are also keen to attract a younger audience, and wanted to see how cool young vloggers would come across on screen,” the insider continued.
“It’s wide open at the moment and they could even test more potential presenters in the coming weeks.”
