This Irish bar had the dodgiest job description ever

Say what???

Her

We hope this is a joke

The lads over at Joe have spotted a rather unusual job description on Jobs.ie.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I know about the tight job market at the moment and that as a result, some employers expect their staff to go the extra mile.

I remember working hellish 12-hour shifts during my stint in the restaurant business, finishing at midnight, only to be back in again on my feet early the next morning. It was part and parcel of the job; long hours, the ability to run around like a headless chicken while balancing three plates and four glasses, a courteous demeanour and lightning speed. Essentially you are expected to be a super human devoid of emotion.

The most infuriating thing about working in the service industry is, of course, the phrase ‘the customer is always right’ because well, no they’re not and nine times out of ten they are not only wrong but downright moronic.

This job description that was posted on jobs.ie is looking for a full-time bartender to work in Dublin 14. But they seem to be looking for a candidate that is really willing to go the extra mile.

Hmmm, nice salary. Full time. So far so good. Attention to detail, standard. Fluent English, yup.

It’s the sixth one down that really jars.

“Ensuring the customer needs are met to the highest standard (free hand shandies is what he means here).”

Ehh, what? We don’t know if this is a joke or not but we really hope so! We tried to reach the establishment in question for a comment but they have since taken down their advertisement.

Which got us to wondering, are they just absolutely mortified, was it a prank played by a hapless employee or did they actually find someone to fill the position?
