An investigation has been launched after a YouTuber seemingly broke into the Love Island villa.

The security breach occurred last night while islanders were sleeping, as YouTuber Omer Majid shared allegedly live footage of himself entering what appeared to be the Spanish villa.

Majid, who has 11,000 followers on his YouTube channel, appeared to be crawling through the villa, eventually walking down a corridor lined with fairy lights.

In footage obtained by The Sun, a voice can be heard shouting “you’re trespassing!” before Majid’s stream ends.

A statement has since been released by ITV confirming the security breach, which was swiftly dealt with. Apparently, up to five people a day have been caught trying to access the villa in the past.

“Last night a security breach was identified and an intruder was removed from the villa with immediate effect,” a spokesperson said.

“The safety of both our Islanders and our production crew remains our primary concern.

“As part of our stringent Covid safety measures, the villa area that was trespassed has been fully deep-cleaned before being made accessible again to the Islanders and crew.”

During last year’s Winter Love Island, a source said that “armed guards” had been positioned around the villa, which was located in Cape Town, South Africa.

“They will have them surrounding the area so there is no chance of any breaches,” a source told the Star at the time.

“If it’s known to everyone in the area that a big TV show is in town, then it will become a target. There are concerns there could be kidnap attempts if things aren’t done carefully.”

This breach comes after a fairly explosive episode in which Hugo accidentally upset Faye and Sharon by saying “fake” girls were a turn off to him. The issue was later resolved.

Love Island continues tonight at 10pm on Virgin Media One.
