She isn’t the first and she won’t be the last but Georgia May Foote is the latest Coronation Street star to announce her departure from the soap.
The actress, who plays Katy Armstrong, confirmed that she will be leaving the cobbles in a statement released over the weekend.
It read: “I have had an amazing four years on Coronation Street. I have had some fantastic storylines and worked with some wonderful actors. I am very excited about what the future holds. While I will be sorry to say goodbye to Weatherfield I am looking forward to the challenge of new roles”.
According to reports, show bosses will not be killing off Georgia’s character which means she could return in the future.
Speaking about her exit, which is said to be linked to the drama involving the Windass/Armstrong family, the 23-year-old said: “I am hugely grateful for the opportunities Coronation Street has given me and I am very excited about my exit storyline”.
Georgia joined the soap as Katy Armstrong four years ago.
