Charming, funny, cute – what’s not to love about Paul Rudd? He just might be the perfect man. If you’re not convinced, may we present the evidence…

1. Clueless
The 1995 flick brought Rudd his breakout role and with he broke a million teenage hearts. He stole the show as matchmaker Cher Horowitz’ ex stepbrother, and the man who eventually won the teen queen’s heart. This look. Oh my.

2. He married a Friend.
While Rachel and Monica really got the Big Love storylines in Friends, we can’t help but feel as though Phoebe got the best deal of all in the end. Mike Hannigan was the randomer Joey set Pheebs up with when he forgot to plan a double-date, but it all worked out very ‘happily-ever-after’ for the madcap pair, and Rudd was perfect for the role.

3. He’s a family man
Rudd married his OH Julie Yaeger in 2003 and they have two children together. Unlike many, many leading Hollywood men, there’s never been a whiff of scandal about Paul Rudd. He appears to be as loyal and loving as they come. Adorable. Lessens the chances of him running away with us, mind you…

4. He loves us too!
On a recent Late Late Show appearance Rudd waxed lyrical about his love for our fair Isle, but he wasn’t just trotting out the usual line for PR purposes. He travelled Ireland with his father while he was in his teens, and when Paul’s father died of cancer years later they returned to Ireland to spread his ashes in the land he loved so much. When Rudd was honoured at the 2011 Oscar Wilde celebration in LA he choked up, saying: “I am so grateful, I am honored, I am humbled. And I’m Irish.”

5. He plays a Bromance as well as a Romance
Following the very funny ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ in 2008, Paul Rudd again appeared alongside Jason Segel in ‘I Love You, Man’. The bromance that followed was one of the cutest film pairings ever, and it’s easy to believe it’s for real, given how often the Apatow crew seem to get together for another priceless on-screen adventure.
Paul Rudd stars in ‘This is 40’, out in Irish cinemas this Valentine’s Day, February 14th.
