It’s already been quite a year for Studio Ghibli. The announcement of Hayao Miyazaki’s retirement recently has left many fans in despair but fear not, this new film may help cure your feelings of loss.

Inspired by the epic animated film Princess Mononoke, video producer Nate Drake and his team has come up with a kickstarter project for a live-action adventure.

The new concept movie titled “Wolf Girl”, is to be set 600 years after the events in the animated thriller.

“The forests have regrown and cities have been rebuilt but the new balance between them is trembling… What if the forest needed a Princess once again?”

Here’s the concept trailer:

“We know that there are fans of Princess Mononoke all over the world so we have carefully crafted a story that can be enjoyed in any language” write its creators.

Below, the original trailer:

So far the team have raised £1,644 of their £29,000 goal. You can find out more about this kickstarter project here.
