On this day in 1937, Gone with the Wind was first published. The hugely popular novel was soon turned into a masterpiece of the big screen which forever immortalised Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh in one of the greatest love stories ever told.
Vivien was perfect as the head strong Scarlett O’Hara, the spoiled Southern girl who was hardened by her experiences during the Civil War. She really does love Rhett, she just doesn’t realise it until it is too late.
