We had been a bit worried about this one. Downey Jr, even though he is by far one of the best character from the Avengers, had hinted that perhaps he would not be back for another instalment of Iron Man or indeed the Avengers.
But we can all breathe a sigh of relief now as Marvel have confirmed that Downey Jr has signed up for not just one sequel of the Avengers, but two!
Joss Whedon, the film’s director had promised he would not continue the franchise without Downey Jr. so we have a few reasons to be grateful.
Production on the eagerly awaited film is due to start in March, Whedon is currently working on the script and has confirmed that he is not going to rush the project.
Although Downey Jr has signed on for the two Avengers sequels, there are no promises that he will be around for Iron Man 4, or even if this production will go ahead.
Avengers 2 is due for release in early 2015.
