Emma Watson has released an empowering new video about gender equality

Megan Roantree

This is brilliant.

Emma Watson has been long known for her activism for gender equality, she is a global goodwill ambassador for the UN.

She has gained a lot of respect over the course of her career for using her status to promote important messages.

Recently a controversial columnist for the Sun wrote that he did not understand Emm’s role in the UN, calling her it boring ‘PC crap’ so this powerful video may dispel that.

On Saturday the actress shared a video called Hurdles on social media. The powerful short gives example of how women have become more and more equal in society in recent years, but that a lot still needs to be done.

The video features Sia’s Chandelier and includes clips of women at the Olympics something that was not always an option for women.

As the women jump over the literal hurdles in the video, it discusses what woman have overcome.

It also lists things we still need to achieve for example, 1 in 3 women still experience violence and that 62 million girls are still out of school.
