Albert Square is set to welcome a “larger than life” character in the form of Linda Carter’s mother Elaine.
According to the EastEnders website, show bosses have cast West End star Maria Friedman as the landlady who apparently “loves to be the centre of attention.”
Elaine will arrive in Walford to support her daughter Linda (Kellie Bright) after receiving a telephone call from her son-in-law Mick (Danny Dyer).
Speaking about her new role, Maria said: “I am thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders to play Elaine Peacock.
“Working alongside Kellie Bright and the rest of the Carter clan has been an absolute joy. It has also been a lovely experience to take my West End shoes East for a short trip.”
The show is welcoming a new character in the form of Linda Carter’s mum.
