EastEnders star Rakhee Thakrar has spoken out about her character’s shocking secret.
The actress, who plays Shabnam Masood in the show, has revealed that the thing she has been hiding for the last year is huge.
She told Inside Soap: “Shabnam’s secret is life and death.
“Since she came back home, Shabnam has become really good at hiding things, because she knows that everything would come apart if it ever got out.
“I’ve been carrying this secret around for the past year, and it’s really weighing heavily on me!”
Shabnam returned to Albert Square this time last year.
Next week viewers will be given more clues as to what this secret is when Shabnam becomes nervous about a newspaper clipping in her handbag.
As for when it’s revealed, Rakhee said: “I can never gauge how the audience are going to react to things.
“But lots of people who work on EastEnders were shocked when they discovered Shabnam’s secret, so I hope it has the same effect on the viewers.”
