It seems EastEnders are pulling out all the stops, or should we say all the stars, for their 30th anniversary celebrations next year.
Show bosses have revealed that the one and only Peggy Mitchell, played by Barbara Windsor, will be returning to Albert Square.
According to the show’s website, the iconic character will appear in one episode for the occasion which is being marked with a number of live elements including one full live episode in February.

The actress returned to the square briefly this year.
Speaking about her comeback, Barbara revealed: “I am absolutely thrilled that Peggy has been included in the celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of EastEnders. What an incredible achievement for all the production, cast and crew, past and present.”
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins added: “Barbara and Peggy are intrinsically linked with EastEnders and when we planned our explosive anniversary episodes, Peggy was the first name on our list of hoped-for returns.
“Barbara has not only created one of EastEnders’ most iconic characters, but she’s also hugely loved and missed by everyone here. We couldn’t celebrate thirty years of EastEnders without Barbara Windsor”.

Barbara joined the soap back in 1994 before leaving in 2010. She has returned for guest stints, most recently this year for Phil and Sharon’s wedding.
