Classic chipmunk duo Chip ‘n Dale are to be revived by Disney, with plans to turn their story into a feature film.
Award-winning commercials director Robert Rugan, pitched the idea to the studio. Rugan is writing an updated story of the two heroes and the Hollywood Reporter states that the new project isbeing envisioned “as a live-action/CGI hybrid”.
Chip ‘n Dale first appeared way back in 1943, in an animated short starring Pluto. Since then they’ve appeared in various Disney cartoons, books and comics.
The pair appeared in their own origin type series in 1989, with Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, with Chip being the brains and Dale the goofball, as they ran their own special detective agency.
