Corrie’s Carla Connor To Develop Gambling Addiction

"Carla is in total denial".

Cathy Donohue

Coronation Street’s Carla Connor is in for a tough time in upcoming episodes.

The actress, who is due to leave the show at the end of the year, will find herself battling a gambling addiction.

Carla is convinced that she is responsible for the fatal fire that killed off two of the soap’s characters, Maddie Heath and Kal Nazir.

Struggling with feelings of guilt, the gambling becomes a form of escapism for Carla.

Alison King recently spoke to What’s On TV about the storyline: “Michelle found casino receipts in her bag.

“Like any addict, Carla is in total denial and gets angry if anyone suggests she might have a problem.

“She really believes she’s responsible for the fire and their deaths and that’s an awful thing to have to live with”.

“She resorts to using someone else’s credit card once the gambling has really got a grip”.
