Coronation Street is the soap to watch at the minute what with the mini bus crash and the return of some familiar faces.
Speaking of the latter, the soap has revealed who will be playing Sarah Louise Platt’s daughter Bethany. Katie Redford will be stepping into the role when the 14-year-old decides to leave her home in Italy and return to the street.
Sarah (Tina O’Brien) will follow her there in the hope of bringing her back but the mother-daughter duo will end up staying in Weatherfield.
Speaking about joining the show, Katie told Digital Spy: “Until I’m actually on set, I genuinely don’t think it will sink in that I’m joining the cast of Coronation Street. I know it sounds clichéd but it really feels like a dream come true.
“Bethany Platt is going to be such a fun and witty character to play and I hope everyone enjoys her return as much as I’m going to.”
Someone else who is excited about the new addition is producer Stuart Blackburn who described Bethany as “full of mischief and with a real lust for life.”
He added: “Bethany is an unpredictable force of nature who will bring joy and chaos in equal measure, turning their household upside down.”
