Coronation Street boss Stuart Blackburn has spoken out about the departure of Owen Armstrong, played by Ian Puleston-Davies.
The producer has revealed that the character is in for an emotional few months in the lead up to his exit this summer.
As well as dealing with Faye Windass’ pregnancy, Owen’s ex-wife Linda (Jacqueline Leonard) turns up on the street leading to a revelation.
So far he has been telling daughters Izzy and Katy that Linda walked out because she couldn’t cope with them but this isn’t the whole truth.

Owen is leaving the soap this summer.
Blackburn told Digital Spy: “Owen’s story will be heartbreaking.
“The minute Linda steps back, Anna realises how much he loved her back then, which goes against what he’s told her.
He added: “Everyone will see Owen in a very different light – his reactions to Faye’s pregnancy will cause a lot of problems.
“Once Anna realises that Faye is pregnant, she won’t have time to deal with this petulant, selfish man – it will be all Faye, Faye, Faye.”
Owen’s exit will apparently tie in with that of Katy (Georgia May Foote) who soon gets involved with Callum.
