Coronation Street’s Chris Gascoyne is to make a return to the show later this year.
Chris, well known for his role as Peter Barlow, will appear on the street to attend the funeral of his on-screen stepmother Deirdre Barlow.
The actor who exited the show in November told The Birmingham Mail that he would be back in June for “a few episodes”.
He went on to say that he greatly misses Anne Kirkbride, who played Corrie favourite Deirdre for over 40 years.

“They asked me to go back to the street for a couple of episodes and of course I said yes.
“It is only right that Peter would be there, and if I can I will always want to keep that continuity. The show has been very good to me.
“I worked with Annie for 15 years and I loved her, she was a really lovely woman and I miss her” said Chris.
The soap’s scriptwriters have been working closely with Anne’s family to ensure she receives a fitting goodbye and Chris said that it will be a tough time for all involved
“We will be saying goodbye to Deirdre but also to Annie, so it is bound to be very emotional” he said.
