When Rob Donovan was revealed as Tina McIntyre’s killer in Coronation Street, it sort of spelled the beginning of the end for the character.
But the man behind the iron bar, Marc Baylis, has revealed that there is still more to come from his character before he leaves the show later this year.
He told Digital Spy: “Well once you are told that you are going to murder someone in a soap, you know that your time is limited.
“I do know when I am leaving but there are still so many twists and turns in the storyline that I don’t want to reveal that just yet”.
Speaking about his latest storyline, Marc explained: “It is a fantastic honour and privilege to be given the responsibility of being at the centre of such a huge storyline.
“When I was first told about it I was shocked, but then really pleased to be playing a character that will be in the show’s history alongside other killers like Richard Hillman and John Stape”.
As for the reaction of the fans, the 37-year-old actor is taking it all in his stride: “It is mostly jokey and people saying ‘Oi Rob!’ or asking if they are safe around me. I just laugh and tell them it’s okay as I haven’t got my iron bar with me!
“With this sort of storyline you just have to roll with it and it’s great that people are engaging with the story and enjoying it so much”.

Marc’s character Rob was revealed as Tina’s killer in recent weeks.
