Craig Charles has revealed that he thinks Coronation Street “missed a chance” by not letting him and his co-star Simon Gregson develop their comedy act on the show.
The actor, who plays Lloyd Mullaney in the ITV soap, has spoken out about how producers did not back the idea.

He told the Sunday Express: “Viewers said they loved Lloyd and Steve’s comedy act, especially when they were in the cab office.
“We get on so well in real life and we make each other laugh, so we thought we could develop the double act on the show.”

He added: “We never really felt that the producers were behind us. Instead, Lloyd and Steve were dealing with all the serious stuff. I think the show missed a chance to make people smile.”
Craig decided to leave Corrie after 10 years following the sudden death of his brother Dean. His final scenes air on Wednesday (September 23rd).
