We love Jennifer Lawrence. She may be a Hollywood A-Lister but she’s also endearingly human. And after her embarrassing moment at last night’s Academy Awards, we sort of love her even more (she’s a woman after our own hearts, God bless her!).
You see poor Jennifer did what we imagine we’d do if we won a major award – she tripped up the steps while she was on her way to collect the gong for Best Actress. Awkward!
Like a boss: Despite her embarrassment, Jen managed to laugh off her tumble
But in fairness to Jen, she recovered from it super-well. It probably didn’t ease her blushes that the star-studded audience leapt to their feet when she took the tumble and gave her a standing ovation.
“Thank you so much,” said Jennifer.
“This is nuts. You guys are only standing up because I fell and you feel bad. That was embarrassing,” she added.
Jen picked herself up and got on with her acceptance speech
Jennifer laughed off her battle with gravity and immediately started thanking her Silver Linings Playbook co-stars, crew and team for their support and then she wished her fellow Best Actress nominee, Emmanuelle Riva, a happy 86th birthday.
Jennifer’s accident happened as she rushed to the stage, obviously shocked by her win. As she fell onto her knees, Jen held her head in her hands but could be seen laughing, despite the embarrassment. What a legend.
It’s probably worth noting that Hugh Jackman immediately rushed to her rescue. You may have fallen at the Oscars Jen but hey, every grey cloud has a silver lining, right?
