Gorgeous Mr Gosling reportedly turned down the lead role in Fifty Shades of Grey, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actor/director is thought to have been offered the role from the beginning, but he just wasn’t interested.
Garett Hedlund, of On The Road fame was also in the framework, however he “couldn’t connect” with the role of bondage loving billionaire Christian Grey.
Former British soap star Christian Cooke was also apparently under consideration to play Grey. The part eventually went to fellow Brit and Sons Of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam.
Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander and Shailene Woodley are among the actresses who were tipped to get the part of Anastasia. Dakota Johnson won the role and she is thought to have been the top choice of director Sam Taylor- Johnson.
Fans of the book aren’t exactly over the moon about the final choices, even going so far as to start a petition which has been signed by 18,500 people and counting.
