9…4…8…1… B-Day!

Today, September 4th, one of the most influential women in music (and the world) celebrated her birthday. Beyonce Knowles a.k.a Mrs Carter turned 33 and so we’ve decided to pay homage to Queen B on her birthday by thanking her for all the wisdom that she has passed onto us over the years.

From her survival instincts with Destiny’s Child, her fearlessness when it comes to pursuing and living the dream, and the thing we’re most thankful for… her epic relationship advice.

Here are the vital life lessons we’ve learned from Beyoncé.

1. All the women who independent…

Throw your hands up at us!

Queen B reminds us not to follow suit – a woman does not need to be kept by a man. We must lead our own lives, and not be led. AMEN SISTA!

2. Who are we? What we run?

The World…

Ladies, as the saying goes, “the world is your oyster”, and Beyoncé didn’t get to where she is today without some blood, sweat, and tears. If you want the world, you’ve got to work for it.

3. Life is but a dream…

The title to the singer’s inspiring documentary that aired early last year taught each of us to live life, pursue our dreams as we only get one chance, so make the most of it.

“Sometimes we don’t reach for the stars, sometimes we are satisfied with what people tell us we are supposed to be satisfied with. And I’m just not going for it.”

4. You’re Irreplaceable…

Hands down, the greatest break up song of all time.

Beyoncé empowers women all over the world to know their self-worth and not to stay in a relationship with someone who doesn’t respect your true value… He can be replaced in a minute.

5. Embrace mistakes…

In her documentary Beyoncé revealed that she does not fear messing up, she learns from it and moves on.

“I’m not afraid to make a mistake. I embrace mistakes, the make you who you are.” Never was a truer word spoken.

6. Everyone is a little vulnerable…

It has been quite the year for Beyoncé as her personal life was propelled into the spotlight following the infamous Jay Z and Solange lift debacle at the 2014 Met Gala afterparty.

Amid several break up rumours, the couple’s ‘On The Run Tour’ was a phenomenal success, earning the pair a combined $100 million.

Beyoncé and Jay Z put on a united front at the MTV VMA’s last week with the birthday girl performing a 15-minute medley of hits, referencing the bust up in a remix of hit song ‘Flawless’, “Of course sometimes shit go down when it’s a billion dollars on an elevator”.

The truth is, we’ve all got our own sh*t going on, no one is perfect, you’ve just got to pick yourself up and move on.

7. Enjoy it!

Simple.

Lets all raise a pint of Guinness to Queen B…
