Colin Farrell joined Ellen DeGeneres on the couch today for an interview and while chatting about his sons and Christmas, the Irish actor opened up about a very unusual relationship.
The 37-year-old revealed that he had a “romantic relationship” with screen legend and icon Elizabeth Taylor, in the last few years of her life.
“It was kind of like the last, it feels like in my head, not her, I’m projecting, but the last kind of romantic relationship I had,” he told Ellen.
Colin was quick to add, “which was never consummated.”
The Miami Vice actor and Taylor, who passed away in 2011, aged 79, first initiated a relationship after he met her team in a hospital just before his youngest son was born.
“We were in Cedars and I bumped into, it was about an hour before Henry arrived, and I bumped into somebody outside the lift. It was Elizabeth’s manager and her close friend Tim Mendelsohn and they said, ‘what are you doing here?'”
“I said my son’s about to be born. They said, ‘oh.’ I said ‘what are you doing here?’ And they said, ‘well Elizabeth’s having a stint put in her heart, it’s no big deal cause she had so much sh**,’ and I said, ‘Will you tell her I said hello? She probably won’t know who I am.'”
After being reassured Elizabeth knew of his existence, Colin told them to say hello.
Days later Farrell contacted his publicist to see if he could send her a bunch of flowers, only to be told that Elizabeth had in fact beat him to it.
