UPDATED: Rock Singer Abducted While Walking Down the Street in Michigan

The front man was abducted and thrown into a van.

Lead singer of rock band The Calling, Alex Band, was abducted while walking down the street in Michigan.

According to celebrity news site TMZ, the singer was snatched up from the street and thrown into a van. He was then severely beaten and dumped on train tracks.

At the time, Alex was in Michigan for a music festival and was walking to a local supermarket. 

A member of the band noticed that Alex had gone missing and gathered a search party. They found him a short time later.

The showbiz site contacted the police and they confirmed that an incident report was being filed.

Though Alex survived the incident, his current condition is unclear.

UPDATE

According to US weekly, the singer sustained a fractured lower spine, gash on his chin, broken teeth and bruising to his body. A statement from the band’s reps has said that:

“After Band fought back, he was cornered in a van with the gun to his face, and Band told the assailants, ‘Don’t kill me as I am about to be a dad’. After more beating, the assailants responded with ‘We don’t kill fathers’ and left him for dead at a local railroad track in Lapeer.”

Band said in a statement: “I never thought my unborn child would be my saviour. I am grateful to be alive and I know that I am destined for bringing my music back to my fans.”

The Calling are famous for their 2001 hit, “Wherever you will go.”
