Under Fire for Freebie: Helen Flanagan Lands Herself In Hot Water

The reality TV star has attracted controversy for bagging herself a freebie

Helen Flanagan is hitting the headlines once again, this time for bagging herself a free train journey when her credit card was declined.

The former Coronation Street actress attempted to buy a ticket at Manchester’s Piccadilly station for a journey to London Euston last week. She was in a rush to make an early appearance on the Daybreak show when her card failed.

Fortunately for Helen, who is currently appearing in Channel 5’s Celebrity Super Spa, Virgin staff recognised her. They then took her name and address, saying she could pay later.

The star was grateful for the kind act and showed her appreciation on Twitter, “Absolutely fantastic today @VirginTrains #bestserviceivehad x thankyou.”

Last month Helen shared a picture of her on a Virgin train journey

However, there are some who think Helen was given preferential treatment which is unfair to other customers.

One Virgin Trains passenger has told The Sun: ‘If any normal person couldn’t pay for a ticket there’s no way they would be let on the train.”

Another customer raged: “Why should she get to travel for free just because she’s famous? And she’s loaded.”

Both Helen’s agent and Virgin Trains have declined to comment on the incident.

The 23-year old has had multiple transport issues of late with various parking fines. She also crashed her £90,000 Audi R8 convertible on September 6 while travelling home from a photo shoot in Swansea.
