Top Model To Star In Film Detailing The Amanda Knox Murder Trial

This casting choice is a big surprise...

Cathy Donohue

Model Cara Delevigne is set to star in a film based on the 2009 murder trial in which Amanda Knox was found guilty of killing British student Meredith Kercher.

The 21-year old has apparently signed up for The Face of an Angel, based on the 2009 murder trial in which Amanda, her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito and Rudy Guede, were found guilty of killing British student Meredith Kercher.

Meredith was stabbed to death in the home she shared with US student Amanda in Perugia, Italy.

Rudy Guede opted for a fast-track trial and was convicted in October 2008 of having sexually assaulted and murdered Kercher. He is currently serving a 16-year sentence.

Amanda and Raaffaele were released from prison after their convictions were overturned in 2011. However, they could be convicted for a second time in a new trial which starts this week in Florence.

Early reports suggest that Cara won’t play the lead role of Amanda but will play a major role starring alongside Colin Firth who has also been tipped to join the cast.

A source told The Daily Mirror: ”It doesn’t look like Cara will be playing ‘Foxy Knoxy’ but she will have a major role, as the director wants to focus on events surrounding the trial and the people whose lives have been affected by it.”

Cara recently signed with the William Morris acting agency based in Los Angeles and has another role in the pipeline, a film adaptation of London Fields by Martin Amis.

Filming for The Face of an Angel starts in Sienna and Rome next month
