Yesterday Katy Perry over took Lady Gaga in the followers stakes, and became the second most followed person on Twitter, Justin Bieber remaining at number 1.
Today however, Lady Gaga shocked her ‘little monsters’ by deactivating her account entirely. The singer sparked rumours of a departure from the micro-blogging site after removing her profile picture and displaying the default twitter egg image.
Gaga who has over 39 million followers and 57 million Facebook fans deleted tweets in February just before postponing several Born This Way Ball tour dates due to injury.
The singer’s profile now reads, ”This interface has been shutdown temporarily. Please check back for updates.”
Fans say that this is possibly the beginning of a huge PR campaign for the singer’s upcoming album ARTPOP, we’re sure she isn’t gone for good.
