Television presenter Clare Balding and her long-term partner Alice Arnold are married.
According to reports the couple returned to the registry office where they had their civil partnership in 2006 to tie the knot.
Clare revealed the news on The Jonathan Ross Show, explaining: “They just backdate it to when you did your civil partnership. So officially now we have been married since 2006.”
Clare and Alice have been together for 14 years.
She added that they decided not to have another party (it was just them) before joking about asking friends and family for more presents.
Speaking about the joys of making things official, Clare explained: “It’s about equality.
“It’s just about knowing that you can and knowing that you can say ‘I’m married’, and nobody’s going to think that’s married in inverted commas… I think it’s great.”
