Vanessa Carlton and her husband John McCauley have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl.
He announced the news by posting a photograph of the new arrival on his Instagram account. The caption reads: “Sid the kid, whoa!!!”

Vanessa also tweeted: “Thanks for all the sweet wishes on our daughter. She’s the quiet observer. We are in for it.”
The singer, best known for songs including Ordinary Day and A Thousand Miles, delayed her album when she found out she was pregnant.
She and John, the singer and guitarist in band Deer Tick, have been married for just over a year.
