Beyoncé has paid her respects to the family of Chelsea Lee James, who passed away last Monday, April 21.

Chelsea’s mother, Donna James, received a vase filled with 90 white roses and a personalised note signed off with Beyoncé’s name on Thursday.

“Donna, love and prayers to you and your family. Chelsea was a beautiful girl and I am so happy I was able to meet her. She touched my heart and I will never forget her,” the card read.

Australian teenager Chelsea had been battling cancer for ten years and during a 2009 concert in Sydney, Beyoncé sang Halo to her on stage.

The 15-year-old joined Beyoncé on stage in front of 20,000 people for the special performance of Halo and the pair met again last November when the children’s cancer charity Camp Quality organised a backstage meeting during Beyoncé’s Mrs Carter world tour.

Chelsea was rushed to the John Hunter Children’s hospital in Newcastle, South Wales when her condition deteriorated last Monday.

She passed away surrounded by her family and friends.
