Ronan Keating has spoken out about the affair that ruined his marriage and the tragic death of his friend Stephen Gately.
The Boyzone frontman, who had a fling with backing dancer Francine Cornell, said that there was no excuse for what he had done according to the Irish Daily Mirror this morning.
He explained that not even the sudden death of his band mate and friend justified his actions: “I can’t use that as an excuse. I can’t. My psychiatrist gave me a few different reasons for why I possibly did what I did. But again, they’re excuses.”
When asked about why he did it, Ronan admitted that he simply made a mistake: “Boyzone had gotten back together again and we were on the road…I tripped up. I made a mistake.”

It was a mistake that ended his marriage to Yvonne. After 14 years together, the couple called it quits despite giving things another try for the sake of their two children.
Speaking about it on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, the 35-year-old said: “Well she took me back. That was a huge step. But I don’t think it can ever work after something like that.”
When asked whether he would do it again, the Australian X Factor judge was adamant: ““No I wouldn’t do it. The pain that I caused people has been devastating.”

But that’s all now in the past as both Yvonne and Ronan have moved on. The Life is a Rollercoaster singer is currently dating TV executive Storm Uechtritz and is looking forward to the next chapter of his life.
“I just want people to trust me again… I just want to be the best that I can be, and that’s as honest as I can be,” he told the chat show host.
During the television interview, which airs tonight on UTV, Ronan also talks more about the death of Stephen Gately and Boyzone.
