Princess Diana had a dress disaster at her wedding and no one knew

A full-on dress disaster.

The royal family are dominating headlines at a moment with the birth of Prince Louis last week and the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fast approaching.

However, a different royal wedding is the subject of this article, the nuptials of Prince Charles and Princess Diana of Wales, parents of William and Harry.

The couple married in July 1981 at St Paul’s Cathedral with Diana choosing a bridal gown from Elizabeth Emanuel for the big day.

However, disaster struck before the ceremony when she went to dab some perfume on her wrists and ended up spilling some on the stunning gown.

According to People, her makeup artist, Barbara Daly advised her to walk with her hand near the spillage so it would look as though she was lifting the dress, rather than hiding a stain.

Some of the photos from the couple leaving the church do look as though Diana is holding her dress but of course, it went unnoticed on the day itself.

The perfume in question was Quelques Fleurs, a floral scent of jasmine, tuberose and rose and there’s no denying that Diana looked amazing on the day, stain or no stain.

Diana’s son and actress Meghan will marry on May 19 and there has been speculation that the Suits star will pay tribute to Harry’s late mother on the day itself.
