Mel B’s mother has seemingly confirmed that the singer was in an abusive relationship with husband Stephen Belafonte.
Andrea Brown, who is estranged from her daughter, took to Twitter to hit out at the American this evening and appeared to confirm rumours that her daughter’s marriage had turned violent.
Concerns over the X Factor judge’s wellbeing were raised when she missed the Saturday show of the competition’s final weekend due to a hospital admission and appeared to be bruised on her return.
However, Belafonte has spoken out to deny that he was ever abusive towards the Spice Girls star.
“Who accused me of it? Did she accuse me of it, the police the hospital, who accused me of it? I thought when you beat someone us the police or the hospital or the person you beat up says it. I had nothing to do with hurting my wife. I did not touch Mel. I wasn’t cheating of anything. There was no girl involved.”
It has since been reported that the couple have now split, with Mel remaining in the UK while Stephen has returned to America.
