Actress Elisabeth Moss has opened up about her short-lived marriage to Fred Armisen, describing it as “extremely traumatic”.
The Mad Men star was married to the Saturday Night Live comic for one year and spoke to New York magazine this week about the circumstances surrounding the relationship breakdown, revealing that she is “glad she is not there” anymore.
“Looking back, I feel like I was a really young, and at the time, I didn’t think that I was that young. It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible,” he said.
“At the same time, it turned out for the best. I’m glad that I’m not there. I’m glad that it didn’t happen when I was 50. I’m glad I didn’t have kids. And I got that out of the way. Hopefully. Like, that’s probably not going to happen again.”
The 31-year-old actress also recounted her difficulty in dealing with the intense media attention she attracted following her separation.
“I always knew that the stuff that you read is not true, but when I was in the situation and you really, actually read things that you apparently said or did that are 100 percent made up… It’s just the strange, simple thing of, that’s your heart they’re talking about, and it just…it sucks.”

Armisen had previously spoken about the union to American DJ Howard Stern, saying that Moss probably hated him for his actions during their marriage.
“I think I was a terrible husband, I think I’m a terrible boyfriend. I feel bad for everyone I’ve ever gone out with,” he said.
“I want it all – fast. I want to be married… the amount of girls I’ve lived with right away… and then somewhere around a year, two years, I get freaked out.”
