Kim Kardashian’s nude selfie from a few weeks ago has caused a lot of controversy.
She herself maintains that taking ownership of her body and her sexuality empowers her, and said as much in a brilliant statement she released after some of the awful backlash she received.
“I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.”
Now Kim and supermodel Emily Ratajkowski have teamed up to take a topless selfie together, posting the same photograph on both of their Twitter accounts.
However sexual our bodies may be, we need to hve the freedom as women to choose whn & how we express our sexuality. pic.twitter.com/1KK0MtXRuv

We are more than just our bodies, but that doesn’t mean we have to be shamed for them or our sexuality. #liberated

Even if being sexualized by society’s gaze is demeaning, there must be a space where women can still be sexual when they choose to be.

Their commentary on female sexuality and the female body is really worth paying attention to.
