Kanye West has sparked outrage during the Australian leg of his tour, after refusing to sing until all his fans in Sydney were standing up for his performance.
The singer caused further controversy when, according to concert-goers, Kanye refused to perform a song until the whole crowd were on their feet. Kanye stopped the concert at the Qantas Credit Union Arena when two seated fans wouldn’t get to their feet – because they were in wheelchairs.
Accorrding to the Daily Mail Australia, he told fans:
“I can’t do this song, I can’t do this show until everybody stand up. Unless you got a handicap pass and you get special parking and s**t.”
He allegedly identified two members of the audience who remained seated. One waved his prosthetic leg to Kanye in explanation, and the star commented, “Okay, you fine!”, before sending his bodyguard into the crowd to investigate why the second fan wasn’t standing.
The singer added:
“This is the longest I’ve had to wait to do a song, it’s unbelievable.”
According to witnesses, he asked his bodyguard, “He is in a wheelchair? It’s fine!” before continuing his song Good Life.
Kanye came under fire earlier this week when he addressed fans during his Melbourne concert telling them to get on their feet:
“… unless y’all sitting down because y’all handicapped… unless y’all have handicapped parking.”
