Joss Stone had almost vanished off the radar until news broke that police in Devon had successfully stopped two men from kidnapping and murdering the soul singer in June 2011.

The 26-year-old singer explained why she pitied the duo that had plotted to behead the soul singer with a samurai sword.

The singer is trying to remain positive,

“I thought about their mums, how they must feel. Someone comes to their door and says, ‘Your child has tried to murder someone.’

“I did actually want to ask them why. Was it because I sang a song they hated?”

The pair was sentenced three months ago, Kevin Liverpool was jailed for life and his accomplice Junior Bradshaw received 18 years.

“There was a big part of me that felt sorry for them, sorry for their mums. I kept thinking, ‘What drives people to do something so awful as this?’” she added.

The men were en route to the singers home when they crashed their car and were caught. Joss is adamant to stay positive admitted it feeling “totally strange” when she was first informed about the ploy to kill her, likening it to “the most random black comedy.”
