Actress Jennifer Ellison has opened up about the terrifying moment her newborn son Charlie stopped breathing.
The former Brookside star told OK! magazine about the incident which happened one night when she was feeding him.
“He took a deep breath and started choking,” she explained. “He started coughing, like he couldn’t get something out of his throat, then mucus started coming out of his nose and he couldn’t breathe.”

At this point, Jennifer called out to her mum who was upstairs. She telephoned the emergency services who advised them of what to do next.
Jennifer admitted: “I thought he was dead at this point, It was awful. The whole thing went on for about 10 minutes but it felt like four hours.”
Thankfully the tot, born last month, started breathing again. As a precaution, Jennifer took him to hospital for further testing. He was able to go home the following day.
Charlie is the third child for the 31-year-old and her husband, boxer Rob Tickle. They have two other sons called Bobby and Harry.
